Skating at the Oval

The town of Richmond, BC  has built an incredible facility that is housing the long track speed skating. I’ve seen some architecturally great buildings while traveling around the world, but this was neat. It used wood from trees that had been destroyed by the pine beetle. Here is a photo of the exterior, followed by a picture of the roof.

Here are two speed- skater’s I met outside the Oval. We walked and talked all the way back to waterfront station. I got a great video of us cheering for USA after we took a 2-1 lead over Canada in the hockey game. We chanted USA, USA, USA, USA, soon after the repeatedly yelled Canada. It was amazing!

Here I am with Trevor Marsicano and Jilleanne Rookard. They were both a lot of fun to talk with and very friendly.

Here are the flags when the medals were awarded. It was a very nice presentation.

I caught a lot of flack when U.S.A. defeated Canada. It was amazing. Canadians sure love their hockey!

Best Regards,

Tucker

    • It’s been really fun. Unlike the overpaid, “over appreciated” athletes of professional sporting leagues, these athletes must come up with ways of funding their equipment and travel.
